PerfectCharge MCA charger - Optimum charging for different battery tasks

Starter and supply batteries each fulfill different tasks and are subject to different loads. A starter battery must first supply a high current to start the engine and is then used as an energy buffer with small partial cycles. On the other hand, supply or on-board batteries are discharged over longer periods with smaller currents and then recharged. This exposes them to greater stress.

Special charging technology is required to prevent damage and guarantee a long battery life. The IUoU battery chargers of the PerfectCharge MCA charger work with a unique six-stage charging cycle that ensures optimum charging conditions for all types of gel, non-woven and wet batteries. Fast and gentle charging protects the battery and charges it efficiently at the same time.

DIP switches can be used to set the required charging voltage for lithium batteries with BMS (battery management system). This means that lithium batteries are optimally charged with the MCA chargers.

The phases of the IUoU charging characteristic in detail:

I phase: At the start of the charging process, the empty battery is charged with a constant current (100% charging current) until the battery voltage reaches the charging voltage.

Uo phase: In this 3-stage absorption charging phase, the voltage remains constant (Uo) and the battery is fully charged. The duration of this phase depends on the battery. In the first 2 minutes, the charge of the battery is determined, after which the main charging phase begins. As soon as the battery is fully charged or the charging current is below 6 % of the nominal charging current for 15 minutes, the Uo phase ends.

U phase: The charger switches to trickle charging. Every 12 days, the charger switches back to the I phase to revitalize the battery and prevent sulphation.
