Environmentally friendly disposal of batteries

When camping, it is important to dispose of batteries properly in order to protect the environment. According to the "Ordinance on the Return and Disposal of Waste Batteries", rechargeable batteries and batteries must not be disposed of with normal residual waste under any circumstances. Instead, batteries containing hazardous substances should be returned to a distributor or to collection points set up for this purpose by the public waste disposal authorities.

Simple installation and self-sufficient camping

The PowerUnit is easy to install and finally allows you to use your vehicle self-sufficiently. You can easily combine the lithium battery with your existing on-board battery (AGM/gel/liquid acid). Both battery systems are connected with the enclosed cable set. A special battery computer is included to monitor and control the system. This is connected to the BMS (battery management system) of the lithium battery and ensures that the existing charging systems do not continue to charge the lithium battery if it is already fully charged.

The battery computer also displays the total available capacity of the battery system in the interior so that you are always informed about the charge level.

Improved protection for your on-board battery

Another advantage of the PowerUnit is that all existing charging equipment in your vehicle can continue to be used, while the on-board battery functions purely as a backup battery. You do not have to remove any charging equipment or purchase new ones. The lithium battery is used when it is almost completely discharged or has been switched off due to external circumstances.

The PowerUnit also offers a practical additional function. If you are not using your vehicle as a touring vehicle, you can activate the sleep function at the touch of a button. This keeps the lithium battery in the optimum partial state of charge, which significantly increases the service life of the LiFePO4 battery.

Optimum charger for longer charging times

As the increased battery capacity of the PowerUnit also means longer charging times, we recommend the use of an additional charger. The compact chargers (page 524) with 25 A (MT PL 1225) or 50 A (MT PL 1250) are particularly suitable. With such a charger, you can optimally compensate the charging times and thus get the best out of your PowerUnit.

Scope of delivery of the PowerUnit lithium battery

When you purchase the PowerUnit, you will receive an installation kit consisting of the LiFePO4 battery, the battery control computer and the installation cable set including a high-load fuse. This gives you everything you need for the installation.
