Lithium battery PowerUnit - The ideal solution for combining Büttner LiFePO4 battery and on-board battery
Act in an environmentally conscious manner: Dispose of batteries properly!
When it comes to the disposal of used batteries, certain procedures must be followed. According to the "Ordinance on the Return and Disposal of Waste Batteries", rechargeable batteries and batteries may not be disposed of with normal residual waste under any circumstances. Instead, batteries containing harmful substances must either be returned to a distributor or handed in at specially designated collection points operated by public waste disposal authorities.
The PowerUnit - simple installation and considerably more capacity
The PowerUnit is the perfect solution for easily combining a Büttner Elektronik LiFePO4 battery with your existing on-board battery (AGM/gel/liquid acid). The two battery systems are connected to each other using the supplied cable set. Thanks to a special battery computer, the entire system can be monitored and controlled. The battery computer is connected to the BMS (Battery Management System) of the lithium battery and prevents the existing charging systems from continuing to charge the lithium battery when it is already fully charged, but the charging devices still need to charge the on-board battery further due to its AGM or gel characteristic. In addition, the battery computer displays the total available capacity of the entire battery system in the passenger compartment.
Advantages of the PowerUnit
The biggest advantage of the PowerUnit is that all existing charging equipment remains in the vehicle and can continue to be used. The existing on-board battery also remains installed and serves as a backup battery. It is activated when the lithium battery is almost completely discharged or has been switched off due to external circumstances. It is disconnected if extreme temperatures occur or if the lithium battery has to be switched off for system-related reasons due to high interior temperatures.
Additional function for a longer service life
If the vehicle is not used regularly, this "sleep function" can be activated on the battery computer. In this case, the lithium battery is not fully charged, but kept in an optimum partial state of charge to significantly increase the service life of the LiFePO4 battery.
Tip: Compact chargers to compensate for longer charging times
The increased capacity of the PowerUnit enables longer charging times. To compensate for this effect, we recommend the use of additional chargers. The compact chargers with 25 A (MT PL 1225) or 50 A (MT PL 1250) (page 524) are particularly suitable.
Scope of delivery and installation
The scope of delivery includes an installation kit with LiFePO4 battery, battery control computer and installation cable set including high-load fuse. Installation is simple and safe.
With the PowerUnit lithium battery from Büttner Elektronik, you can combine your existing on-board battery with a LiFePO4 battery and benefit from considerably more capacity and a high current draw. The system used by the PowerUnit is independent of the outside temperature and has an extremely long service life. Finally, you can also use your vehicle autonomously and, thanks to the special battery computer, easily monitor and control the entire system.
Remember to dispose of batteries properly and use the PowerUnit to continue using your existing charging equipment in the vehicle and extend the service life of your LiFePO4 battery.
