Be sure to maintain the recommended air pressure according to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. FAQs

Do I need winter tires for my caravan?

Neither in Germany nor in other European countries are winter tires mandatory for caravans (exceptions are Sweden or Finland, where trailers must also be equipped with suitable tires from December 1). Nevertheless, winter or at least all-weather tires are recommended if you are planning a winter camping trip.

What does the NOT number on the caravan tires mean?

The so-called DOT number is a combination of numbers and letters on the tire sidewall. Among other things, it provides information about the production week and year of the tires. The last four digits are decisive here: "3022" would mean that the tire was manufactured in the 30th calendar week of 2022.

When do I have to change my caravan tires?

Long periods of standing on the caravan can put a strain on the tires. That's why the law stipulates that caravan tires must be replaced after 6 years at the latest - regardless of tread depth. Apart from this, a statutory minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimeters is prescribed. However, experts recommend looking for new caravan tires from as little as 4 millimeters.
